    FLAVOR OF LIFE

You know when you were younger, people would try to scare you by saying if you eat fruits and swallow the seeds, it will grow out from inside you?!

YES! I was scared too. But when I grew up, I found out it's not true, however that story is a great inspiration to me now...

As for the title Flavor of Life, as I grow older, I realize nothing lasts, and life goes on. There is hope, then there is disappointment, happy along with sad, just like a tangerine, it's sweet but it's sour as well. So I came to think, the flavor of life is bittersweet.

    Closet Monsters

The sound and video aren't in sync at all for some reason so please disregard that.  This is about a kid who's afraid of the monsters in his closet and his imagination running wild while he's laying in bed at night.  http://webpages.uncc.edu/~slpielow/

    Scorpios - Priscilla

This is an ad for Scorpios, the gay bar, where I tried to capture the spirit and mood of the place. I had trouble with the green screen effect and lighting on some of the video clips, especially the drag scenes. I decided to add an unplanned overlay to try and keep the piece connected, and to carry the vibrant theme throughout the entire ad. Let me know whatcha think!

    Six Weeks

An interpretation of Groundhog Day.  Essentially, a shadow envelopes a forest (which is meant to represent six more weeks of winter (hence the title)).

    Flying Sauce by Yll Mullaademi

For the 30 sec commercial I chose the Flying Saucer.  This is a great place where I like to kill time.
I shot about 1 hour worth of footage.  I wanted the advertisement to be somewhat educational therefore I included the illustration on the beer fermentation process.  The scene goes from how its made to how its poured and then how one would drink it.
This is a pretty straight forward video so please sit back relax and enjoy a beer.

    Sam

I didn't get to the point of animating any of my project, so all I have is an image and my sound file, but Heather said I should upload it anyway. I was going to do an ad for Outback steakhouse, showing different kinds of Australian animals (kangaroos, bearded dragons, platypus) all converging on an Outback restaurant. Each animal had a specific sound associated with their appearance and a different kind of animation; the kangaroos were going to be rotoscope, the lizard puppet animation, and the platypus traditional hand-drawn animation.

    Best Nightclub in Charlotte--The Forum

I wanted to get some footage of people dancing because that is what the Forum is all about. After thinking about it I came to the conclusion that people dancing was  a little too cliche to use throughout the whole movie. So I wanted to go with something that maybe you don't see very often so I thought a race between 2 cars with underbody lights would be cool. We would be racing to the forum and the idea would be to get there before the tickets sell out. This is very important because last week we went to the Forum, and got there at 12:44 a.m. All the tickets were sold out so we walked around the block contemplating what to do shortly before leaving.
I actually did end up with footage of people dancing and having a great time inside. We attended a Benni Bennasi event one night this past month and thats where the footage comes from. The end music is straight from the event. They frequently get popular music artists to dj. The text is not a text effect, it was manually created in AE.

    "Juguete"

My idea for "Jueguete" came from the fictitious fact that toys come to life when humans are not around.  In the piece the toys are free to express themselves and have fun until the girl returns.  One of the toys enjoys playing with a video camera... that the girl takes at the end.  Will the footage reveal the real life of toys?

    Study

Project: fictionalized fact or factionalized fiction

this video is about how students supposedly study better with music playing.  This student, however, decides to make his own music to study to and ends up getting so caught up in the whole ordeal that he ends up with a failing grade anyways.

    Mitchell Project 2 Animation

have you ever seen a chicken dance...
Tenders Fresh Foods is a new restaurant specializing in all things chicken. While many modern food commercials try to poke fun at the 'fowl-ness' of chickens, Tenders wants to bring a fresh new flavor to the industry. In an attempt to thwart those damn cows from Chick-Fil-A, this commercial strives to erase the somewhat negative connotations associated with America's favorite edible bird.

    Nathan Ennis project 2 animation

    http://webpages.uncc.edu/~nennis1/

    Anna

The whole idea behind my piece is there is this man who is walking around town very depressed. He feels so hopeless that he eventually collapses on the sidewalk. Then he smells and sees this little coffee place up ahead, gets up off the ground and slowly becomes happier until he is in front of the building and overcome with joy.

At the very end of the animation, the name of the coffee shop "Dolca Aroma" is made out of cut paper in the style of the original logo. I used to work at this place and we always made signs out of funky construction paper or wrote the specials with colorful chalk on blackboards, so that's why I decided to use this pink-ish color for the type.

(When I uploaded this to the website the background runs at a slower pace than the puppet and music.)

    Kayla

I had a awesome idea planned I just had difficulty executing it. Going from a foosball table to billiards then ping pong and integrating other elements associated with the bar.

    Actionscript 3.0 help

Hey guys, since we'll only be getting into actionscript 3.0 a bit in this course, I wanted to let you know about some great free resources.  The following links have great forums that answer questions about actionscript, but even more important, have free tutorials about how to do certain things in actionscript.  Often they are ranked from "easy" to "difficult".  So if you want to know how to do something and it's not covered in the videos, look here first!

*Note: Be sure to check if the tutorial is doing actionscript 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0.  You'll likely get confused if you look at earlier versions, so stick to actionscript 3.0 tutorials until you feel confident with actionscript.

    "Ryan" by Chris Landreth

Good question... I imagine a year or more since it looks like it was all hand water colored, but that's a raw guess.

On the flip side, there's this interesting CG animation ("Ryan" by Chris Landreth) based on interviews with Ryan Larkin. He died not long ago from lung cancer, but was basically a pan handler and alcoholic at the end of his life. This is a beautiful take on it.

    Ryan

"In Ryan we hear the voice of Ryan Larkin and people who have known him, but these voices speak through strange, twisted, broken and disembodied 3D generated characters... people whose appearances are bizarre, humorous or disturbing. Although incredibly realistic and detailed, Ryan was created and animated without the use of live action footage, rotoscoping or motion capture...but instead from an original, personal, hand animated three-dimensional world which Chris calls 'psychological realism'."

    Walk Cycle animation

    Walk Cycle by Ryan Larkin
Brilliant study of walk cycles creates a work in and of itself.
